Thinking about layoffs 24/7 is no way to live. Especially since I can change nothing. So I'm going to act as if layoffs are done, and save myself some stressing.

If you honestly feel your job feel you contribute you are fine. If you kick and scream because you need to go to office a couple days a week, good riddance. You are not getting paid to walk to a bus stop, drink Starbucks or do laundry. It is call work for a reason. Gotta work people!
It's definitely no way to live especially since you can't change anything about who makes the layoff lists. But it's a good idea to prepare just in case. Save some extra money and be cautious with spending. Grow your network out, connect with others in your line of work. Look into side hustles. That kind of thing. If nothing else, you'll feel more in control and you'll save some money too.
