Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

No layoffs this month huh?

I'm honestly curious as to why becuase it's always started around this time for the last like 8 years; but haven't heard of any groups being hit hard. I mean yeah, layoffs are a constant thing at Dell but I'm talking about the "big" layoffs they have twice a year. One of which should have already started by now..

@OP They have been announced, just look at your new comp plan changes, people falling like flies, why tf would they pay severance when they can just quietly fire people by paying them a comically low wage, they will just quit. When I worked at DELL I was told by a manager that the RTO mandate didnt give them the attrition they wanted, literally said that to me, so this is just one of the things they do to force people out so the starry eyed college grads with no experience take that persons position. Thats why they constantly hire, to have an army of backups to take the place of the next person, its literally what the Soviets did in WW2 , fkn crazy.

The month isn't over. Sometimes they pull in from next month and combine it into a nice big cut.

@ab Since when was final headcount 80k? First it was under 100k, then it was 90k, now it's 80k huh? Yes, Dell lays off year round in small chunks... that's been going on for decades at this point. Dell will never trigger the WARN act because they aren't going to ever get rid of enough people in one location for it to trigger. It's honestly too easy to avoid trigging WARN...

My team's already been reduced from around 210 in 2020 to under 40 today. Some were moved to other teams, some left on their own, but the vast majority were layed off. It's bad enough that management is discussing hiring.

WFRs are done in small, weekly and monthly batches so Dell doesn't have to report WARN notices, and it reduces negative media scrutiny.

Dell will do anything it can to keep the facade alive. It is soon going become Gateway computers.

Besides looking at the yearly 10k, these numbers are speculation.

@OP let me share some stats.. you’ll see the same numbers after the full years results on 26th Feb.

Last year, the headcount was 108,000. Over the past year, it has been reduced by 15,000 an approximate 12% decline that’s happened over 12 months.

A further 15% reduction is expected over the next year, which translates to roughly 15,000 additional roles likely to be eliminated over the next four quarters to being the final headcount to 80,000

You don’t see bulk wfr because it’s done every month and is don’t in silo
