Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

If you have on going medical issues, then look into enrolling into healthcare exchange.

When I left my last job, I opted for cobra because I thought it wouldn't take too long to find another job.

When it became clear that the search would take a lot longer, I switched over to the healthcare exchange.

Do compare prices though. Healthcare exchange prices can be quite expensive these days.

Go without until you get a new job.

COBRA is ridiculously expensive, and other coverage you'd be paying out of pocket w/ no income is way overpriced, too. Just don't bother with it, and pray that you won't need any for the foreseeable future.

Try not to engage in any physically risky behavior until your benefits start wherever you're hired next. Consider this time without health coverage to be more incentive for you to work as hard and as smart as you can to get hired somewhere new.

Good luck!

@a2 COBRA is very expensive. I would recommend you look at:

https://www.healthcare.gov

You have 60 days of special enrollment upon being laid off to pick a plan. These plans are normally much cheaper.

You can pay for COBRA for continuation of coverage.
