It’s flipping ridiculous we can’t even request unpaid or PTO after Christmas now. It was nice to be able to do that to go see family that we can’t see during the holidays.

In our store we were declined PTO in Oct. and Nov. because of the lack of staff to cover. And when I tried to get time off in January I was belittled and insulted. Then Belk changed their policy and I ended up losing 66 hours of combined PTO and personal time. All the while the store management was taking vacation after vacation leaving the store a mess. I know it's my choice to stay. Believe me I am looking for a way out.

  1. Belk stopped front loading pto and personal holiday time as a way to save money, with all the black out dates, it makes it nearly impossible to take all hard earned time off for the whole year, otherwise it’s back to back vacations and ten people trying to get the same week off, this is done strategically by belk.

  2. Front loading personal holiday helps associates if there are snow days, if someone had to go to a funeral, if someone gets the flu at the beginning of the year, not front loading those days makes people have to dive into pto at the beginning of the year for “non vacation” days off or things that are out of their control.

3.Now store management are taking back to back vacations, which will cause issues with the ones who can’t get their time in.

@OP I’ve taken PTO in January and February without any issues.

If you’re running into specific problems, can you share more details? The post is pretty broad, and it’s hard to understand what’s actually happening without specifics.
