Better to be under production ops. You get a more well rounded experience and greater visibility in central functions.
Is it better for what? Job stability, or career progression, or what? I assume an asset is always better for career progression but it mainly depends how you work, lay backs will not move in either and you can have a great career in both, but maybe slightly better opportunities in an Asset. For job stability depends on what asset you work, but if the company is, as a whole, purchased tomorrow by a big player nobody will be fully safe, but the closest you are to the wellbore, the more chances of you keeping your job.
