Hearing that laid off employees can reapply to positions after the dust settles and the re-org is done?

I asked because I actually loved my job. Almost 20 yrs and I don’t know what to do now.
You are correct sir!!
Those who weren’t volunTold into a new role to avoid position eliminations, will absolutely have first takes at what opens back up. Which will happen. It’s like a dead cat bounce type deal, there will actually be an influx of roles suddenly open. For exact gigs that seemed cut. And those with us before stand vastly higher consideration,
Keep in mind this is all $$$. You may get paid more with the new role rehire, but whoever they cut had a bigger debt potential (I.e long tenured older employees who get bigger severance later on and they can’t do it later at random to otherwise get hit with some sorta DEI lawsuit)
Why on earth would you want to get back on a sinking ship? Do you honestly believe there won't be more layoffs in the future as they continue to make the company as lean as possible?! These rounds will happen again later in the year, trust me.
PE firms rip companies apart until they are almost nothing. This is only the beginning. Go find a job with a stable company!
I just came here to ask the same thing. I see rvp positions are open- what is the likelihood they call someone to come back?
