@ad I've been a senior associate for years and am at the very low end of that regular "associate" range. Good reviews for many many years. But 1.5% raises don't build up very fast. If you got $100k to start, you'd be doing better than most who have been here for 5, 10, 20, 30 years.
Adding as previous poster, orgs do care as the best ones are kept and prevented from rotating. However, if you are incompetent like most analyst, you'll just be pushed to a cr-p team for cr-p work.
Also note that analysts can become VP directly after 2 years. It's reserved for the highest performers. Most will graduate to associates. You can say performance is subjective, but that bi--h is true everywhere in every company. Play the game.

Also the thing about analyst is that they are free money as your salary is paid out of corporate coffers.
Your org doesn't care about your performance as you are free to them for 2 years...
100-110k, $5-10k bonus.
You are supposed to rotate as an analyst. I suggest getting an engineering experience if you have the background (so you can jump to a tech or better firm) or get to a revenue generating part of company (for career growth).
I'll say it again on this post, DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OFFER FROM BNY! They are the worst of the worst and your next employer will giggle when they see that you were an Associate at such a trash firm. Take the time to peruse this site and you'll read personal stories on how they treat employees. Save yourself now and R-U-N!
P.S. That offer they gave you? You were lowballed because you're a first year. You can get a better offer with another firm. Trust me.
you do realize jobs in NY are required to show the salary range on the listing? range is comically wide but it’s still there
@ag Right? read the room
Lol facts. They dont even start and ask about bonuses while the existing employees are getting merit take, getting false performance ratings and even terminated.
OP, you came to a layoff sit. Let me rephrase your question so it’s appropriate for the audience and then I’ll provide answers.
OP: how much should I be paid to take your job?
Answer1: the real compensation is surviving the mental and emotional toxicity.
Answer 2: you should expect complimentary coffee and both more so you won’t be disappointed.
Answer 3: to inherit all of my problems, if I could go back in time, I wouldn’t accept anything less than $100k as an associate. $125k as a senior associate or $150k as a VP.
Answer 4: regarding bonus, you should only expect the loose change that falls from Robin’s pockets
