Constant layoffs - the American way

Whoever posted this on Reddit is right. This is why Unions in the United States are of the most absolute importance. If you did this in like let's say Japan? People would see this as a leadership failure and start to distrust the company entirely... In Sweden,? They'd be paying out these employees so long that the short term gains they might want to see before ramping up again in hiring would not warrant going through this. It is truly only in America that this sort of thing is seen as feasible.

In your scenario "customer facing" people are replaced also. Once shart is done, the only people left will be in sales roles. Everything else will be contracted, automated, or outsourced. Personally, I've made peace with it. Just pay me my severance and I'll go. Not before.

@a2 to me, it feels bizarre to still believe we can vote out of this. I think the current political milieu indicates that parasites psychopaths are running this joint from both sides of a two party illusion.

The silver lining is this corporate behavior should permanently eliminate workers buying in to the gaslighting:

  • We care about our employees well being
  • We are a family
  • Your job is your life
  • Be loyal to your employer
  • You can thrive here
  • If you work harder, you will succeed

Any others come to mind?

Banking and investing are changing. Don't hayte the player, hayte the game.
Nobody really needs banks like we did before mobile apps allowed us to skip walking in for basic transactions including depositing a very rare live check. Anyone not customer facing is at risk of jobs moving to India or Latvia who can work more efficiently and cheeeply. AI is the enemy of the global workforce when Skylab will take over.

Part of the problem is that Marxism isn't in my best interests either.

This behavior is bankrupting the people and the nation. Another curse brought about by the wonderful MBA class that gets rewarded for destroying the country as long as they profit from it. Just another group of mercenaries - Wagner group model.

They build nothing and only know how to destroy what others have built. Pathetic. These locusts need to move on.

It's because everything in America is designed to serve the billionaire class, not the majority. I don't know why so many get duped into believing this is the right way and end up voting against their self interest. It's bizarre.
