Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I’m not sure why people aren’t getting this. The layoffs are on a non pay week. That’s this week and then two Thursdays from now, 2/26. IT will be a bloodbath for SURE and there are also many business ops teams that will be targeted.

This is the truth, this is what high band 5’s have been told.

I know for a fact that people are being laid off on 2/19. I’m thinking given there are 2,000 targeted people, it’s possible it won’t follow the normal suite (eg on an off pay week). I heard some ppl here say 2/12 and I’ve also heard 2/26. Basically the entire month of February we will be stressed TF out.

I would like to know who is being targeted. Is it customer service agents? Supervisors? Like who? What departments? I’m apart of the pended and denied evicore preauth team and idk what’s been going on lately with Cigna but it’s been a sh-t show and I’m tired of the suspense of not knowing. Like who announces a layoff but says “we don’t know what department are affected.” Like how does this even make sense?

To all those saying 2/19...it is NOT 2/19. If they do layoffs it is ALWAYS on the Thursday of the week that ends the pay period - not the week that you get paid. They do not want to have the payroll mess of laying you off in the middle of a pay period. They let you go on Thursday, cut you off at 5pm from access and then pay you through Friday.
That being said, TOMORROW, Thursday 2/12 will be one of those days.
Which areas? Who knows....and the people who do are not going to put it on this site.

@fh adding to this, the end of december IT round im speaking of affected only contractors at least in my area. so this february stuff might be FTE since contractors are operating expense and not head count.

@f1 usually when companies announce lay off its FTE and not contractors

My leadership team at Accredo were just told that we will have a meeting early Thursday morning for a “ business update” and we were told we should attend. Seems ominous to me.

We have a monthly meeting in IT, and its ALWAYS on a Wednesday, it was moved to Thursday - 2/26. Last time the meeting was moved to a Thursday was in 2025, and it was after layoffs

@b4 I can't speak for this 1/29 round, but i know IT who got hit end of december... I'm not saying it's not happening but just providing some context as well. I will say I wouldnt be surprised if IT does get hit because some BA got hit 1/29.
