My team got hit. Me, another senior architect and my manager!
Been here for 3 years. They mentioned "financial struggles".
FYI, I'm on the I.T. side working with Epic.

@c0 Unfortunately seems to be that way. They are replacing with offshore consultants. The industry is heading this way as CEOs look to cut costs any way they can. i would venture to say that even if Sharp was a decent financial position they would still offshore because it just makes business sense regardless of how unfortunate it is for onshore folks. We need regulation in IT to stop offshoring, it seems.
I think some people here are correct with how they’re getting away with using the LOA to go under the radar so as not to trigger any of these regulatory requirements and news. They are onboarding more consultants as well so it seems to be a slow transition to using consultants to do it all.
I'm sorry to hear about these lay offs. Did they give the same payout as the last batch? Or was it not as generous.
@b5 RightSourcing and other contractors only got 2 weeks!
@b1 they do this to give the employees benefits for 3 months and pay. Which helps them out and is a nice thing to do. Many companies don't do that
@b1 oh there will be more ... for sure ... this is not the end
@b2 scratch that - 80 people
Terri said 37 positions were eliminated. Definitely trying to avoid the WARN act.
She said there are no plans to outsource IT while simultaneously increasing the number of consultants…. “Right sizing”
Good luck to those remaining…
@az They mention those laid off were put on a "leave of absence" for 3 months. Maybe that's how they're getting away with it?
They didn't seem confident that there won't be more layoffs....
@ax It appears to be 80 roles. That would trigger federal warn act wouldn't it?
@at I suspect the same. Seems like they may be trying to lay off in small bunches in order to "fly under the radar" with the WARN act and not to draw too mention attention again.
Terri Couts the new SVP was brought in for all these layoffs!!! Tip of the iceberg! Don't trust them moving forward! They said no more layoffs last time!
I suspect there will be more layoffs coming up. No doubt!!
@ar Sorry to hear. Any other teams impacted that you're aware of?
@aq interface team
@a2 What team were you on?
@ak 4 from inpatient documentation
@ak It's crazy the ENTIRE interface team was laid off because they manage so many interfaces with a bunch of custom coding. Not sure who is going to take over if an app goes down.
Axway team got canned and I heard another individual from the ambulatory team got laid off so far.
Has it only been the Interface team, or are there other groups as well?
@ac correct!
@a2 interface team?
I got RIF'd as well. worked with Epic.
Update, my entire team got canned which is strange. 7 folks
