Oracle's been laying off consistently for years. Not all are major rounds, but it's been ongoing. This is just business as usual.

Layoffs are not new, but only relevant if it happens to YOU. It also is usually unexpected if a company keeps boasting about its revenue while firing people.
@dz This has been an "interesting" year, and not just for O but for all of Corporate America. Every day some recognizable name is is announcing mass layoffs.
The benchmark is a 5% cut per year; eliminate the bottom performers
Of course layoffs happen every year for these large companies,...but not normally to the tune of 30k people in a single go. This is on top of the 3600 let go in October I believe.
Not new, in fact normal for Oracle. They are emotionally draining.. After 12 years I have seen many riffs. This potential one seems different. As always it’s hush hush.. All we can do is look for other jobs, and continue to gather our paychecks. The job market isn’t great, and most of us need the money for bills. We got this friends, peace and love..
we are all sissies working here
AI on here is not real.
Wow..too much
Excessive layers of management is actually the reason that driving up staffing costs. However, if Oracle mass lays off grassroots level employees that actually do the work, the ship will sink. There simply won’t be enough people left to do the actual work.
Bunch of entitled workers who have the outmoded notion that their inflated US salaries are more important than shareholder value, oligarchy power and off-shoring. This fundamental truth of our exploitative society hurts big-time, but there it is.
"Oops! Gee guys, I guess I misunderstood what the goals of these corporations were! Maybe I shouldn't have just financed that expensive new car?"
Like death, it comes for everyone, from the person just hired today, to the founder of the company. You can run, but you cannot hide!
Because, in every generation, we know that there will always come a layoff, but it will be the first time THEY will be on the firing line!
It is business as usual, but this time it is not the poor friend, or the evil boss, IT IS THEM!
