Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

No pay raise but want to go skiing?

No. I won’t be going skiing. I will be at home, on the couch watching YouTube Tube or cutting the grass. Or some other low cost activity. Or sitting around thinking and planning how to increase my income.

Same, we drive older paid for cars, avoid debt, paid off (done in mid 40's) and stack in retirement accounts. Don't make a lot but these decisions put us on track to retire with 3-4M in our mid 50s. I'll drive the same old car 25 years - don't care. My time freedom worth more than stuff.

@1e2 - not rich, but older and have lived very frugally to bolster savings.

I don't want to work here (or anywhere) forever.

@qs+1kgspe7m2 - I just did this with Merrill!! (2 diff types of accts, IRA and mutual fund holding) :-D

Transfer in some savings, then move it to another firm. Only has to stay at ML 3 months to "earn" the bonus. (dbl check that, they may change it to 6 months, but easy enough)

If you are Preferred Rewards member, you can get up to US$!,000 per account type.

I did. Twice! in the same quarter. $2k for just some online paperwork.

If they won't give me a raise, I'll make my own!

I’ve been signing up at banks that offer cash bonuses when you open up or a checking or savings account. Once I earn the bonus I close the account. That’s how I’m making a little extra money these days.

I spent the weekend scrubbing and painting. I will recover at my desk. And I will refocus on me. And how I can gain income outside of this place. I do not hold good memories this company and how terribly they treat its loyal, hardworking staff. I cannot recommend it as a good place to work. Every day I have the indignity of tone deaf flagscape articles like Skiing or a million dollar donation here or there. I can barely go to the grocery store never mind skiing. And no I won’t be doing the d-mb survey. Oh you want me to do a special project? What’s the pay for that? $00.00.

Personal comp is temporary; value is forever. Stop viewing yourself as an employee and start acting like a steward of capital. If you aren't focused on driving the bottom line, you're just a line item. Refocus on the ROI you're generating.

When you pivot from "what do I get" to "how do I grow the pie for the shareholders," you become an indispensable steward of capital. The market always rewards the value-creators eventually.

So no one read the article about why ski resorts are struggling.

Saw that today on Flagscape and wanted to post there, "How can anyone go skiing on the pathetic bonuses you just gave out?"
