Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Area Occupancy Sensors

Has anyone at 1515 noticed the VergeSense occupancy sensors? They are on the floor in corners and look unassuming like a Wi-Fi router but are indeed monitors. Completely ludicrous (in the dictionary definition of the word). Hope the job market picks up soon.

@dw You are mixing things up. The RTO FAQ doesn’t say anything about tracking through Okta. It explicitly says compliance is tracked when you authenticate on the Paramount office network – meaning when your device connects to the office Wi‑Fi. It's literally in the document. Don’t believe something just because someone posted it here more than once.

@dw what level of detail is in that report, if you’re able to share?

It’s been posted here before. You are being tracked via okta i have seen the reports. Those machines have nothing to do with people tracking and they are facilities related.

They only tell the lighting and hvac systems that someone is in the space to turn the lights on and the temperature at a comfortable set-point. These are required by the energy codes in climate nonsense cities like NY and LA.

Pretty sure those just turn on the lights and other electronics. I’ve been first into the office a couple times and it’s pitch black until you start walking through and everything starts clicking on.

Take your tin foil hat off. They don’t need those things to track you and they’re not using them for that.

This reflects micromanagement, a fundamental lack of trust, and an abusive, psychologically damaging approach. It’s horrifying.

@OP I'll have to take a walk around the floor to see if there are any. What am I looking for? Anything that distinguishes them from a regular white wifi device? A Logo?

What do you think they are looking for? These devices aren't supposed to actually identify an individual. Only traffic patterns but I could be wrong.
Perhaps they are trying to figure out of there is enough space for remote to return. Or if they can consolidate floors and save money on real estate.
Unless you know for sure it could be any of that.

Not to in any way defend or excuse a single thing that the evil Ellison regime is doing, but can we be certain that they're not just rigged to turn lights on and off, the way they did the restroom lights while we were all out during Covid?
