What's the deal with title changes on Workday/Teams? Used to be a 'Lead Systems Analyst' and now a IT Systems Specialist which sounds like a downgrade.... noticed other folks had different titles as well. When did this happen and why the change?

They did this sometime in the past year. Chris mentioned they were going to go through all the positions because they hadn't done it in 5 or 6 years and they needed to align with industry standards (or some other nonsense).
Your manager should have talked to you about it. I have a similar title that changed and I agree - the new titles sound d-mb and like a demotion. But at least for my role, the salary and VC Calc didn't change. I left the old title on my signature.
This happened months ago. Your manager should have told you. I was also a “systems” and now “IT” but I didn’t change to “specialist.”
But yes. That title doesn’t stack up in the industry, pay-wise, to being a Business Systems Analyst. IT “specialists” sounds more help desk.
If you apply anywhere else, I would keep “Business Systems Analyst” as your title.
