Diversity is not wrong. But Q missed two opportunities to grow server/cloud. First was the ARM server chip Centriq. Second was Qranium. Both had first rev chips but did not receive continued support. Now you see Broadcom market cap is 10X of Q.
Amon's diversity strategy got already failed badly. Everybody knew it. Instead, Qualcomm lost the leadership in mobile chipset. MTK is way ahead of Q in mobile chip business/engineering. Congratulations to Amon and Akash.
Actually MTK is ahead of Qualcomm in many critical areas. Amon and akash totally failed in the race.
Handset has no moat. Apple, Samsung and Huawei have their own chips. the rest is mostly divided between Q and MTK.
