Why is it so hard to tell us in advance, or at least confirm which orgs will be affected? It's as if the goal is to keep us perpetually on edge. Do they truly believe this constant fear of losing your job somehow makes us more focused and productive? The vibe in my office has been toxic for months. I dread coming in now more because of the atmosphere than the actual work, which is stressful enough on its own.

In 20 years of this game there have been layoffs every qtr. The only time you will hear about layoffs directly is if your business unit is affected after the cuts have occurred I have only seen this occur 2 times in 20 years. You learn if it does not affect you not to worry about it useless information bouncing around in your head. Only advice is stop spending beyond your means to prepare since one day it may be you. Been let go in layoffs 10X before this gig
@aj you clearly don't read. The OP said tell people in advance you just said telling people afterwards. Two very different things. Read, get your facts straight and then comment.
@af you have Stockholm Syndrome being here too long for your own good. I worked at 3 other masthead Twin Cities companies. Teams were told about RIFs impacting their peers/partners soon thereafter. If it was 1-2 people you didn’t but if it was more than that, yes.
You are talking like someone who has only been in abusive employment relationships.
@OP You've been told in advance over and over again! They've said what their offshore goal is, that means a reduction onshore. Do you not see this?
@OP ummmm. Tell you in advance your gonna be let go? "Oh yes" said no business ever. I can't believe you don't realize that what you've stated is utterly ridiculous. And now I'm sure all of my down arrows will come. Grow up people.
