Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Well what is going on with early negotiations union is quiet

I mean I can see some blackout but come on maybe just give us a little idea of the issues being discussed.Maybe how far apart the sides are.I mean is there other issues like complications over the company wanting to offer an Eisp package or something like that

Cwa/ibew losing leverage that reps want to stay home. That's a big bargaining chip.

@aa The Ohio training site is not just for management. It replaces the one that used to be in Virginia and is supposed to be for all training

That’s true, the company can make offers whenever they want. Contrary to some our union leaders beliefs, they can declare a surplus even during a year they have hired off the street. One thing people forget, a surplus and a subsequent retirement offer is the first step before a layoff. They don’t need the union’s permission for that first step.

The company is riding a high note right now. Good 4th quarter results and stocks are up. They don’t want to bring that down with a strike.

Meanwhile the company opened a management training site in Ohio. Training site for only management. We all know what that means

Company and union exchanged proposals last month and are to resume talks sometime this month.

I’m pretty sure the Company can offer an EIPP once a year if they want to. They don’t have to negotiate it.
