Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Layoffs this week

Happening this week, could be as many as 200 heads, doing it same week as earnings call, will be announced as a restructure charge, likely effective immediately or with extremely short notice once you’re notified, good luck

Why make people worry when the news is not true. This is opposite of nice

@d4 They can lay off whoever they want and say it’s performance related even if the individual is doing work of multiple positions. Layoffs are used for retribution, kinda like the current political environment.

@cv no one is getting let go from network unless it’s for performance.

@cq @ck That explains the latest promotions in operations. Someone went from a coordinator to manager overseeing several people, mainly contractors and another in construction in charge of network operations personnel. So more than likely network will see some layoffs as well, but I’m sure most of the cuts will be in towers since there’s no need for all the head count they have. Especially after the Dishnetwork Debacle.

@cs but they all work really hard. They can’t get laid off.

Funny how all the naysayers here thought there would be no further layoffs before closure of the fiber sale but you forgot you work for publicly traded telecom.

Not 200, more like 800-1400 in total.

The 2024 layoff was, for the most part, a salary normalization effort. The next phase will probably focus on removing duplicated and non-essential positions, which is a normal part of any acquisition. It is unfortunate that some coworkers were ostracized due to a lack of familiarity with how these processes typically work. There is a quiet irony in how the situation has since come full circle.

Adds up. Bet 2026 outlook will be weak With all the carriers slashing capex. Won’t need that head count. They did the last one before earnings too.
