Cargill 2030 Report Card

After one year of Cargill 2030, what is the grade for Brian and the ET? Who on the ET is delivering above or below expectations?

@etx congratulations on the eye-opening moment!!

Life will be so much better on the outside. I was rifd in 2024 after over 20 years in the company. It was THE BEST thing that happened to me.

The culture has changed dramatically since the year leading up to “2030”, but it really started in 2022. I’ve been optimistic it might stabilize and improve but my team has changed so many times, it’s dizzying. I just want to do great work and have an impact but no longer feel set up for success. Everyone in our function is under constant pressure and that’s leading to micromanagement and scrutiny of our work like I’ve never experienced before. Starting to job search externally. Willing to take a pay cut for a healthier work environment.

@609 the stock price actually su-ks when you look at the last several years vs the sp500. Get your money out if you have any stock...

The comment below about the rat faced HR leader...lol. All the hr leaders are buzzword losers. So glad to not work with them anymore.

Here’s my score 2030:

In the last week I have had 2 people from inside Cargill reach out to me for “networking “ …. Basically they are bailing out as they have had it with the mess that 2030 is and how culture has degraded; another former Cargill employee who was just let go also reached out and same story— degraded culture.

None of these 3 people are “lifers” and yet they all see what’s going on and are bailing out. It’s sad to see what the current leadership has done to the company and the good people within it. I left years ago and will continue to help all who are getting out and are looking for a landing spot.

In my book the 2030 report card is an “F”. The stock may have hit 99 dollars; destroying the soul of what once was a great company is a brutal price to pay.

@4sv This is accurate. It’s heads family wins, tails you lose. HR runs the scam, led by their rat face leader. Get out. So many better outside options for meaningful work, pay, and life balance.

@207 family wont allow it. Company made a truck load during covid and what did they do? Claimed uncertainty for the future and cut bonuses down. They dont give a f about their employees and neither does the leadership. All corp rhetoric and bullsh-t. Bunch of fat as--s.

Sh11tiest place I worked for only for under two years as left a year ago thanks to Cargill 2030. The leadership was rubbish. The culture was nonexistent. The weirdest non normal dysfunctional lot at least I cashed In on the exit. Good riddance all my other colleagues that left done well

@207 im shocked no one is getting sued over reposts and retires when roles were cut must be a different legal loophole other companies in town were terrified to repost jobs in less than 6 months per their legal department so there must be some case law somewhere

Financials say we are doing great. (Although not sure how the family will react when a 2x bonus is paid out. Lol!)

BUT - Just look at the number of open positions starting to be listed. Nearly all for roles that were part of the RIF.

@f2 This statement is really interesting. I feel like its a perfect HR person. I went through the Dec 2024 Layoff. Since then, i've kept in contact with many people because they still wanted my guidance and help. I finally had to say no, and just Write a PO so and I can help and get paid.
As far as operations, I think Cargill is poor, literally budget poor. They are most likely running less than skeleton crews and deferring as much investment as they can until their margins get better. Then they will keep running like this.

Ask yourself if its a company you'd still want to work at after Brian and his exec teams 2030 initiative. For me the answer is a clear he-l no. I don't recall a lower moral point. Heck people were happier at Cargill during the crazy Minneapolis summer of 2020. Its a damn shame what they've done to the company.

2030 is a success for the family, but a loss for the employees.

2030 has been a big success. I give Brian a B+ grade score. He showed courage no CEO before him showed. Now the Executive Team falls in line to do as they are told, unlike before where people could endlessly debate and have different opinions. Those days are thankfully over! Good riddance! The only place Brian can do better is to communicate next steps for growth. Nobody understands what Specialty is. Ag is sleepy and status quo. And people say Food is supposed to grow but they look confused. One other area for fixing is that Brian keeps some people around because of his close relationships with them even though they are not good at their jobs. He has trouble spotting the political people who manage him more than their responsibilities. But that is common at all big companies. It was even worse at my old company across town. Cargill is back!
