Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Stock is low

Share price at $110 and falling. What's going on behind the scenes? If it drops below $100 do you think they will punt SH and make layoffs?

Mike E being moved to another pasture feels like a stock drop consequence. Now get our KR.

Yes I have no doubt TR is on the right track with AI even after pumping billions into share buy backs rather than R&D for AI.
But the competition express train is already ahead and picking up paying passengers from stations on its route while TR is still building the train engine.

KR’s “change program” coming back to bite TR in the rear

@15b the Man himself sent out an email today saying that the AI competitor wiping out our stock is nothing but a confirmation that we're on the right track 🤣

Wow!
Fallen below $85 today.
From $199 six months ago to $85 today.

Wonder what the Thomson family are thinking at the moment on the future of the senior management at TR 😬

@OP Shareholders got a 10% raise (dividend, not share price - that's for da_ned sure). Question to ponder, did TR reward employees with similar generosity in paychecks or EIP?

I'll start participating in the Employee Purchase program when it gets down to $50 lol

I see $85 as the level they should be at.

Seems investing billions into share buy backs rather than development of AI tools over last decade was short sighted.
But hey the share buy backs boosted the share price and looked good for a while 👍

Does Anthropic make their employees meet a minimum number of tracked AI tool usages which just encourages employees to make a bunch of fake requests so they don’t get punished?

@OP But, but...it matches morale. Correlation is eerie, isn't it?

Seems the market have reviewed Thomson Reuters and given them a 5 😬
Share price now down 20%.

With earnings in 2 days - Has the market got the results early?

  1. Far Exceeded Expectations – Performance greatly surpassed role requirements
    1. Exceeded Expectations – Performance above what was expected
    2. Achieved – Met all job requirements and goals (standard expectation)
    3. Partially Achieved – Some goals met, improvement needed
    4. Did Not Achieve – Performance did not meet expected standards

@vf honestly this company gets what it deserves. You hire cheap offshore talent and expect to compete with other top AI companies. That won’t happen. This company deserves to sink with how they treat employees.

@OP Seems Anthropic released a legal AI tool. Wonder if TR Legal will initiate more PIPs and RIFs.

@vc I did the maths …well ChatGPT did (how lazy is that making life)…
Anyway;

If Woodbridge owns 313,595,574 shares, then:
• For every $1 increase in the share price:
Woodbridge’s holding value increases by:
313,595,574 × $1 = $313,595,574
• For every $1 decrease in the share price:
Woodbridge’s holding value decreases by the same amount:
$313,595,574

So based on today drop of $16…l
16 * $313,595,574 =$5,017,529,184.00
Ouch!
Nothing like seeing your wealth drop by $5 billion in a day.

I did work lit once how much the Thomson family gain/lose for every $1 tick on share price.
I would imagine alarm bells are ringing with rapidity dropping share price that something has gone wrong with the current strategy.
Well the markets think so definitely 👍

@OP This morning's action is even worse. Whipsawing down 11% at its worst. Acting like a meme stock. Is the goal to cut as much from the stock price as the cut to valued human capital?

There will be layoffs regardless of the stock price. TR is a sh-t company.
