Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Day long WAEM, really?

Can anybody inform as to the content and context? Can't some of this just be informed via cc learning?

The concepts in WAEM cannot succeed in a forced ranking environment.

Take away forced ranking and start judging people by their teamwork skills and helping teammates and WAEM will thrive effortlessly.

Dear Inge and HR,
If YOUR S&D and COED select me to lead an organization of 150 employees and staff contractors and another 600 contractors in one of the most challenging countries in the portfolio and then you pay me to fly to BLP to read a report from my manager who has we-ponized WAEM against me and rated me a 1.5 out of 5 on leadership I think it’s you who should be reflecting on what’s wrong with this picture, this entire leadership process. BLP cannot solve the problem we face as middle managers. And if you provide no recourse for this situation; no means for me to voice the absurdity of this situation, it’s your loss.

@fd I've never received WAEM training of any kind, but to be fair, I'm not the demographic that needs to be taught how not to be a narcissistic a$5h0le. Our "leaders" on the other hand.....maybe introducing consequences for behaviors are needed. Consequences? What a concept!

WAEM stands for "We Are ExxonMobil"

If ExxonMobil acquires Chevron someday, what will be our corporate acronym?

In 1998, it was rumored that Chevron and Mobil would merge. According to the employees of both companies, the new merged company was expected to be called "MO--N"

You have to show up in person to look at “vision cards” with photos on them and tell your classmates how they make you feel. No I’m not joking.

We should bring back the ExxonMobil Chemical "Growing With Purpose". I loved the colorful handkerchiefs that employees would drape over their cubicle walls after the two days of training.

Wish we could do 1 day of WAEM, then followed by 1 day of PSMS. Then get a bean counter to figure out the cost, give that to DW… both would be replaced by a 30 minute CBT

@c6+1kg5f8kzy Felt the same about BLP- what a colossal waste of time and money when the real issues are things HR and the corp will never fix. “We” doesn't match incentives

This would be a much more helpful training for the realities of ExxonMobil:

  • How to justify a good idea (or many) when jealous bosses and colleagues shoot it down
  • How to convince management to do the right thing for the business and not only cut opex
  • How to get work done when stakeholder alignment paralyzes everything
  • How to handle serially corrupt managers who try to make you implement their ideas
  • How to ask for removal from a role that compromises your integrity
  • How to protect your most experienced, loyal, and capable employees from ageism
  • How to convince management to use AI and modern technology in the workplace
  • How to call out stealing and lying on performance assessments
  • How to get S&D to help you and call you back,
  • How to address a jealous boss who targets you for fun
  • What to do if you’re experiencing workplace mobbing

It has been my experience that every time we have an "ALL DAY" meeting for everyone, there is a significant layoff or site closure in the next 12 months.

WAEM is one of the biggest low value activities we are wasting money on. It is all gushing about how wonderful the emperors clothes are but no one is willing to admit he’s got no clothes on.
