Thread regarding Home Depot Inc. layoffs

So remote staff are taking the biggest hit?

That’s a low move if true. Wishing everyone affected a speedy move to a better job. I know being laid off is never easy, especially when times are tough, but leaving this place might not be the worst thing. The grass is almost certainly greener anywhere else.

@a8 This has been wondered out loud by many people in the office. The pickleball courts are a welcomed addition (if they actually happen) but nobody asked for the now months-long Main Street renovations.

@a8 yeah, was wondering this too. why did we even bother with such menial wasteful garbage if budgets are so tight that people need executive approval to change roles for a $5k salary increase?

While I’m fortunate to not have been impacted, I wonder why there’s enough money to remodel Main Street, extend the walking path, and add pickleball courts but not enough to save some of the eliminated roles?

Remote people still their jobs. It could still be in the cards but RTO would not be a cheap move unless its a layoff by another name.

It isn't targeted to remote, let's ki-l that right there. Our group had significant cut, roughly 50% on-site and 50% remote.

Years of service, performance, or other things had zero impact. It was purely lopping off areas of the workforce.
