Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Thanks Bob — Our Chief Employee Experience Minimization Officer

You and your team have effectively minimized my role overnight—reducing my title without reducing my job scope, responsibilities, but a title without clarity.

This change has materially damaged my external career prospects by assigning me a generic, market-irrelevant title that obscures both my seniority and expertise. The removal of visible seniority in title is not a cosmetic issue; it directly impacts credibility, mobility, and future opportunity.

The so-called career compass, intended to provide clarity on roles and responsibilities, delivers neither. Instead, it functions as a mechanism for devaluation stripping definition while simultaneously narrowing both current and future prospects.

I am not alone in this assessment. I have heard from multiple employees who are similarly unhappy and confused by these changes, particularly the disconnect between stated intent and actual impact on employee experience.

when you interact regularly you can see the two faces.
The fake one in the town halls where all of the changes are unprecedented for the employees benefit and well being
And then there's the reality face where he thinks of himself as dictator. He does not give a sh*t about the employees

@fh they will use the new titles to reorganize and RIF more employees. In some divisions, savvy managers swapped reporting around to make it appear more balanced so that these managers could retain their jobs. The rest of employees did not have the juice to protect their jobs this way.

@OP it's complete BS how he pitched these title standardizations are a benefit to the employees
the real reason for the standardization of titles is so they can now count how many of each title they have with the goal of hitting ratios mckinsey is providing
QA to developers, BAs to , x to revenue, etc
hint. it's not to have the ratios go up

@OP This is my concern as well. My actual prior experience, industry knowledge, and seniority has effectively been made obscure. Sure, I can keep the old title on my resume, but depending on where I go next, there will be questions when they perform a background check.

@ak while employment can be confirmed, in most cases, the only other thing that will be confirmed is whether you would be hired again. Beyond that, the liability is too great to provide any other feedback.

@OP no one should trust anything he says
don't bother going to his manager town halls because nothing he says will be true

True. My title change makes it seem like I'm a customer service rep rather than a senior BA. Many reputable companies want to reach out to your previous employers to confirm you worked there and get feedback so you can't always just put whatever on your resume...

Pro tip you can put any title you want on LinkedIn, no one will check.

I have been informed my title will be changing also in similar fashion. This is a joke. Company needs to be sued. I haven't even been able to do my actual job I was hired for in over a year and a half and fought to have my actual title installed for 8 months, and now they want to turn everyone into pigeons with no marketable distinction. I wish they would just package me out at this point, but their lack of direction has made this an easy paycheck and why leave if they're still cutting a check and there is virtually no real work. This company is a circus.

@OP I would be happy to have a job today. Or maybe not. The culture here is wrecked and will continue to be miserable for those that remain.
