I see a job posting for the Westlake, Texas office. Is it possible to ask to go to the New Jersey, Boston or Durham office instead? Has anyone heard this being done before?

Yes, yes, yes. Talk to your manager first get their support and then proceed. That assumes your manager would support you. If not then you could talk with HR and have them broker it.
