Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Winter Weather

Just a quick rant….why in all that is holy do we have to wait for management, who does not live in a location where they are dealing with ongoing below freezing temperatures and lasting impacts of the winder storm that hit this past weekend, to “allow” us to WFH

Why won’t a team manager who is onsite just say I am the manager on site and the conditions are still bad so I’m going to let my team WFH.

Just sad…..

@cs Get ready. The whiners are going to dump the negative rating. Most today can’t use critical thinking skills. They only engage in group think fueled by female emotions. Men can’t be men. You don’t like your job? Leave. But whiners can only be The Whiners from SNL.

Every department should WFH if that county’s school is out. Why couldn’t this be a good rule of thumb.

You chose to work here. You chose to live where winter can include inclement weather. Children procrastinate while adults prepare.

Did I missing something? Did the gods take us back to dial-up and DSL lines? Is the rotary phone on a bogo at the procurement centers? This is nuts…. For 5 years, nearly 1,300 weekdays, we functioned just fine. Now just like that (snap fingers here) people can’t be trusted to determine their own safety? Maybe it depends on the department and function, but it seems to be that every policy and procedure manual has a section on travel and attendance and all that. Probably has a sentence or two on inclement weather and excused absences?
Bill, you really, REALLY need to get with your leadership team (down three levels, not just one) and get some clarity into your employees’ heads. This “make it up as you go” isn’t working too well.

Honestly, put yourself first. If you feel even the slightest need to WFH due to the weather, just do it. We need to remember personal safety is the number one priority. Any reasonable manager should understand that.

@OP Most team managers are Leaders in name only. The ones in my area rarely exhibit quality or care on a basic level. The only time I have seen them take the lead is in covering something up or blaming an innocent teammate. They certainly aren't servants.

My Team lead was non existent and made their own job redundant by deferring everything to someone else. I just created my own rolodex and got things done solo.

A team would've been great.

@OP Agree with this since its so infuriating plus the facilities are hit harder to because of the winter weather.
