The dust wouldn't clear for days!
@a9 problem with that is folks they don’t want to leave with take the offer. Saw a similar situation where this happened a few years. Volunteer was told no, although volunteers were openly requested on a team call. Volunteer fought it w/HR. They ended up getting it.
At a company level, no.
At a local level, yes. If your EMT-2 or in some cases EMT-3 knows you're ready to take a package, and doesn't want to let anyone else go, then chances are you'll be accommodated.
But at this point it's probably too late for your friend. The numbers were locked and loaded a few months ago and the names were 95% locked and loaded before the holidays.
If you want a package, let your manager know. And if your manager is not EMT-2 (or in some cases EMT-3) make sure to tell your manager to let his/her higher-ups know you're interested.
It's not rocket science. Communication of interest on the employee's part is essential.
There was a rumor a while ago about a VERP program at Citi but it was unfounded and doesn't exist. Sr management picks the lists in secret. As with all things Citi, there is no logic to what Sr management does. Re-orgs every year are a perfect example. Clearly demonstrates they have no idea what they are doing.
To Citi management should you read this forum…suggest to the upper echelon to ask for volunteers. You may find more people than you’d realize that’d willingly volunteer to be cut.
No.
