UHG joins the Minneapolis protests

UGH speaks out on what is going on in Minneapolis: https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/26/business/minnesota-companies-ceos-target

At last a voice of reason ! All that noise makes it harder to figure out who to RIF and what life saving claims to deny. Please quite down people, business have work to do!

Enforcing federal law nothing for the CEO to comment about. Fighting for illegal immigrants is just code for I like having cheap slaves around to bump up my standard of living. Then complain about stagnant wages as a flood of cheaper labor is around. Logic is in short supply I guess

@h0 laws and regulations do not equal justice and morality. This country was founded through overthrow of a tyrannical govt so there’s that.

Who knew actively bucking against federal law/regulations might have consequences? I mean, it went so well for the South...

The open letter was a cowardly. “Someone should do something…”

Who has more power than them?

MN CEOs are just as afraid as anyone else to speak out against this administration for fear of retribution.

Having the UHG and Optum leaders speak publicly about how immigrants should be treated would shine the light on them and on their workforce practices.

They have many reasons to not want to open that can of worms.

My family is going to the peaceful protests and helping families in need - not because they are illegal, but because they are afraid of going out as they're being targeted. I was happy to see the response from the CEOs in MN. These companies have workers and shareholders to report to. They have government contracts. This administration is targeting companies and people that speak out against them. What good would it do for MN if these companies were shut down.

Their silence until now, and their complete lack of substance when they finally did release a 'statement' just continues to solidify my opinion that they do not give two sh--s about people. Not employees, not immigrants, not anyone.

UHG would have canceled the ambulances to the two people shot if they knew they were plan members. I couldn't care less what platitudes they have on these grim matters.

All of these MN companies should be putting out their own statements, not cowardly putting an "open letter" via a Chamber of Commerce. This is worse than saying nothing IMO.

The silence within UHG on the MN occupation has been shocking. It's good UHG has finally said something, but there's nothing brave or ground-breaking about signing an open letter with other CEOs, with UHG's logo hidden at the bottom.

This statement says nothing. Two people have been ki-led in the streets by federal agents in the past few weeks and all the CEO's can say is "lower the temp". Notice they're not demanding an end to the violence, not demanding an end to the Ge----o tactics, not demanding an end to the erosion of the Constitution. Their statement oozes cowardice.

Lovely to see any kind of corporate message on Sparq or heaven forbid an email to employees. Stone cold quiet and not a peep internally. But moments after BT there's national news reaction and internal comes galore.
