They are already rethinking unassigned. lol
Who could have predicted that

HMP is a ridiculous amount of "external spend" that will make it noticeably harder for many "Doers" to focus, both of which will reduce shareholder value. It's a "lose lose."
@bb
By then more job positions will be located in India
@bg
No it states they are looking into options and they will tell us by end of February
@bh
Managers on my floor have their name tags on desks and I thought the PowerPoint slides stated no assigned seating
They will never go back to assigned seating because they save too much money by not having CBRES go through some big move event after every re-org. Those move events are no more and its saving a ton of time and money.
@OP for those of us already in unassigned seating locations what does the email say? Will they revert other locations?
The Hess office will be nice for S&T
@ay you're not wrong, but it took them how long to do the 9 floors? The two buildings aren't going to be done overnight. Yeah 4 years down the road we'll all be in modernized unassigned spaces but if (BIG IF) they actually for real rethink this, lots of groups will get a reprieve for a good long while.
@ay you’re right. They are blaming things on the fact that the floors haven’t been remodeled. They have to know that isn’t the real issue the unassigned seating isn’t working. I also don’t understand the OPs statement about “1 week.” Most I know started this unassigned seating beginning this year. I also hear from those on the remodeled floor and they absolutely hate it. It is a bad move if you want to keep your talent.
They need to ki-l the whole HMP. It is a terrible idea that costs a lot of money that can be used on other things. Talk about a waste of resources. Assign people a space and provide some level of privacy for goodness sake. You can still fit a lot of people in that space.
Please reread the email, unassigned seating is NOT going away, only being pushed back until modernization is complete.
Can't wait for more of that rationalize action After the modernize.
You guys got an email?
Reread the email. It's going nowhere....
@a1 agree 100%
If you think nomadic cubicle hunting is going away, the you need to reread the email.
This is the reason why Exxon beats Chevron all the time: decision-making. Unlike Exxon, Chevron can’t make a decision or if they do make a decision - it takes them forever to make it. For example: After the pandemic, Exxon immediately said “Back to the office!” Chevron waited for two years before mandating the return - not sure if it’s analysis paralysis or just weakness…Additionally, once they do make a decision, they flip-flop and reverse themselves because a few loud, disgruntled employees and senior executives didn’t like the decision….What message does this recent decision give to employees? If you don’t like a decision, raise your voices because they are bound to change their minds. You know what will be next? People will complain about the new PMP process. Will they flip-flop again…Exxon is laughing at us…So weak. The best decision you could make is a good decision, the next best is a bad decision and the worst decision is to not make a decision or to change your mind….Seriously, grow a pair…
The only thing they need to rethink is hiring you to do whatever you are supposed to be doing.
Reread the email: the are rethinking unassigned on “un modernized floors” - which are restating floors you sit on before being deployed to your modern floors.
Unassigned seating is here to stay
We should give credit where credit is due. I never expected them to reconsider this, especially this soon. Let's see the outcome before beating them up.
