I have a job offer to escape this place, but it's not ideal. If layoffs are definitely coming soon, I might wait it out for the severance and look for something better. Any solid info on timing?

Unless the offer is not that good, there is no reason to wait. OP's question could suggest that the new offer is not that exciting.. maybe going to the same s**t place like HPE,
There are folks searching on jobs after LR and can’t find one even after a year plus. Take the bird in hand, and hope you never need one hiding in bushes.
Sure way to be on list is to call Manager or level 2 director a bone head in a meeting. But don’t count on package.
Incase it went over everyone’s heads.
OP is BS-ing
What makes you think there will be a package? Layoffs are guaranteed but will you be part of it? Take the offer and run. Otherwise, we call BS.
Wait for the ideal. It's guaranteed to happen. /s
You can waste your life forever waiting for a payoff and even if LR announced at global level your team or you may not get one. Some get lucky and get one when they were leaving anyway and it’s great for those where that works out for them. But not likely. Do you really want to live your life like that, just waiting?
Take the McDonald’s offer. If you want something better, you can wait for an opening at Chili’s.
Why do people think this is the a place to get life advice?
Stay on the payroll till Q2 earnings are announced that way you qualify for any mid-year bonus advance. Then turn in your notice.
Of course wait, collect the package and go or if you want to leave, ask them to lay your off amd collect it. Do not tell you have an offer.
Milk the cow, do not run.
Take the offer and run.
I got an offer and asked for a start date of end of february. That way if layoffs happen I have a job lined up and if they don't I'll just put my notice in after earnings.
@op Nobody knows for sure.
But based on historical trends, Jan/Feb would be when an announcement is made. Otherwise have to wait until September.
