Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

What is going on with the restaurant group at voyix?

That part of the ship seems to be sinking faster than the rest. What’s the scoop?

Restaurant engineering was hit hard today with another round of layoffs. This ship is sinking, no doubt.

No real strategy or focus. Particular absence of both in product. After a five year run (coinciding with five years of major site decline), they have removed the product leader but that is likely too little, too late. New sales leadership is aggressive and understandably so, as they are the ones needing to both answer to disgruntled customers and try to peddle dysfunctional, disjointed, unwanted ba----dly goods to new logos. They are bypassing product management to work directly with engineering.

In addition to LP’s forthcoming exit, two product VPs have left. One was involuntary. The remaining leadership is humorously inept — perfectly congruent, however, to the company’s current position and likely fate.

The president seems capable and a better overall leader than many in the company now, but he might have made some miscalculations early on, specifically with regard to shifting focus and investment from services, who were essential to customer relationships and voice of the customer advocacy.

There’s a small glimmer of hope with what looks to be a positive changing of the guard in BU leadership, but a return to glory simply isn’t possible. The death was gradual, slow, and will remain so, but the situation now seems terminal, pun intended.

They tried to replace their award winning (expensive) stand-alone Aloha software with one that was cloud based in order to make it cheaper for restaurants. But the cloud based hardly has any features, and plenty of bugs. Obvious ones that could be fixed in a few minutes. But the devs are in their india office, and those employees couldn't care less about the products they make. I dont know if it's just the indian culture in general, or its just been horrible management over there.
Supposedly they're now making new cloud based software based off the original Aloha. If that works, it'll be awesome. You'll get all of those millions of features and options that Aloha has, but not for thousands of bucks per location. And if they're smart, it wont only be for windows, that way portable terminals don't have to be expensive windows handheld devices. Also not made in india.

My 2 cents would be a crowded competitive market that Voyix can’t operate in, many others do it for less money with better products.
