Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

I wish they would hurry up with the next phase

I'm not scared of layoffs anymore, I'm waiting for them. Show me the money and I'll happily leave and never look back.

Claims and uw were always entry level jobs into the company. People would get in, stay for a couple years, then JOP out to something more cushy , at least in BMI,if they had skills.

ex claim handler here in UW. Dont. Its not an improvement. It is different. Everyone who disagrees with you will send heated emails to your manager and their manager. Id rather a customer tell me off then hang up vs having to deal with adult children in the agency who only care about their commission being cancelled, who will just go full karen if you dont break process/procedure/rules.

Also, UW is the dead'est of dead end roles. Portfolio management? You and everyone else applies for the 3 roles that open every 5 years. good luck. Analyst? Sure you everyone in claims, and managers all compete, and most have additional needs for data science. So where do you go from UW? No where usually.

Claims is horrific, that i do remember, but UW is just another flavor of that, and after a brief honeymoon youll find it to just be another form of taking abuse for bad company procedures. I wish i could treat an agent as i did customers in claims, you have to walk on eggshells or defend to a manager a complaint. Even simple things like telling them where a resource is to their question can cause offense with agents and staff. Half the staff havent been trained at all but will push back on any info given, its a huge headache.

WFH carrying claims right now. Wish they would get rid of us and offer buyouts but that is wishful thinking considering the makeup of the company right now.
