Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Neutral Reference Policy and Recruiters

These damn recruiters keep insisting on manager references and I keep telling them they won't provide a reference.

How have folks circumvented this? I'm in a catch-22 where I can't give them a reference, yet they keep insisting it's necessary, no matter how many times I tell them to go to theworknumber.com.

I've had to dig out references from years back from people who no longer work at WF, but that's slim pickings.

One way is to network on your linkedin. All of the folks in OH, including MadHat is doing this. Having strong relationships in linkedin remain visible after you leave.

Manager can only share your start day, end day and job title. Not allowed to say anything else.

I believe WF even has a policy that managers can't or shouldn't provide references?
