I'm new here, I'm stressing and unable to sleep, so please humor me. How are people notified? I know there's an email notification, but is it then a meeting just with your manager, HR, or somebody else? Is it a whole group at once or one by one? Are people terminated immediately or do you have to stay on for a few weeks? I'm just trying to figure out what to expect.

Mine said "Quick Meet" and it came with short notice, if its very vague with no details, its a RIF.
It'll be a 15 minute webex meeting invite that way you can't see who's invited to the meeting. My boss's boss was hosting the meeting. During the meeting they will probably mute everyone and after the written statement is read to everyone they'll allow some questions. If people get really heated they'll just end the meeting. Afterwards you'll need to send your personal email address to the meeting host so they can send you an email with the severance agreement and a link for the redeployment info.
@OP I'll tell you how I got RIFd 2 years ago. I got an invite at 8am cst that said "division update". There were 45 people in it, the RIFd employee and their mgrs. All the phones were muted by the VP that gave us the news and the to do list. It was 10 minutes long max. All access remained and no services turned off. We were told to cancel all our meetings and had no work responsibilities for our 2 weeks. We could use our time to rehire internally if we wanted. I got a new position in 4 days. So I stayed and never signed my severance package. This is how it happens. ALL RIFS DONE BY 10AM CST.
