Some teams have been literally butchered, but kept in place. I lost three people you could always rely on. What's the deal? Destroy institutional knowledge? Make sure to get rid of the most valuable and competent people? Save thousands to lose millions down the road? Does anyone in this company think strategically, or beyond maximizing profits like right now?

@ag I feel this too. Really good people on other teams that I work with are gone! The majority of the ICs that were spared, would not have been the ones I would have chosen to stay. Idk how they are going to continue to get the work done at the rate they need too. One team was cut in half and mostly left the lessor experienced people. They are good too, but TMO just sent a lot of knowledge and experience out the door!!!!
Same. I lost colleagues I enjoyed working with and their peers who are absorbing their workload are total nightmares. Maybe i need to become the latter for job security?
Plain and simple. The KissAsses stayed.
Part of a butchered team, gone now, remote or not in one of the 'big 3' offices? gone, 33 years in the industry, 25 year tenure (through acquisitions), consistently evaluated as a top performer, showed up day in, day out, actually cared & put the company first. Thanks for your contributions, wish you luck in your future endeavors. The magnitude of institutional knowledge walked out the door to save peanuts is mind blowing.
It's literally the same thing every time. They get rid of top people in every layoff. Sure, they keep a few bit once there are workers that are "good enough" replacements they will get rid of the others in the next round. They are not interested in keeping max pay workers
@OP great points. Simple answer is the top leadership and people making these decisions have no clue. They do not know who the competent and valuable people are. They are oblivious to who has valuable institutional knowledge. They set a target and picked people to meet that target. They kept their loyalists who kissed their rear ends. They got rid of those who are valuable contributors but did not spend time licking the boots of leaders.
