Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Nothing else matters but:

  1. Credit
  2. sth results
  3. App downloads

Are you all told the same?

In store sales, low staffing levels, customer service scores/complaints , merchandising standards, deferred store maintenance, are not a priority?

What is happening? Why are in store sales not a major focus? Why are associates, key holders, leads, and some floor managers kept out of the loop? What’s really going on here?

So if selling merchandise in store is not a priority for belk, isn’t that the exact definition of a ‘front’ ? Are the stores just for ‘show’ ? Is belk making money another way?opening Belk Credit cards, online orders, and app downloads cannot sustain a retail store.

Why worry about dales when they get 10,000.00 when a new belk credit card is opened. Yes, that’s what they get. That’s why they push credit cards even more now.

If a company can’t pay associates $15 an hour to service customers, says in store sales are not a priority, has cut out salaried management tremendously, and is trying to get its customer base to shift to online only shopping, what does that tell you? Does that sound like a normal functioning retail company? You guys are much smarter than this.

You can bust your a-s all day getting work done and never get any recognition on anything else. If you’re not getting credits, or apps then you are on the black list. Many associates are just not interested in twisting and turning vocabulary on customers to convince them to apply for a Belk card.
Limited staffing in all stores makes it tough for customers to do returns or getting help in departments that are not staffed.

It’s odd that the vast majority of brick and mortar stores that are seeing a dramatic slowing of in store foot traffic are owned and operated by private equity firms. Dillards, Von Maur which are both family owned are seeing a sizable increase of in store business year after year, as well as a robust online business.

@OP we are told over and over that selling credit is first priority over everything else. Next are app downloads. If everyone has the app and the credit card then there is your built-in online shopper when brick and mortar closes.

Intellectual property.....when brick and mortar closes up shop .com will still be there! I could see Belk keeping the credit cards open as well and convert everything over to a regular Mastercard....they will get thier $$ back
