Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The week has arrived.

This week it is official, I will be unemployed for the first time in my life. I've sent out a few applications but I'm nervous. December crew- how did the timing work for vacation payouts and severance, have you gotten your money yet?

@fv If you worked on 12/31, your STI will be paid out according to the 2026 distribution

@OP I'm right there with you. 1/17 was my last day. First time, but be strong and use AI tools to help apply for positions quickly.

@fv you’re confident yet incorrect, as someone who worked hundreds of sev in my role as verizon, you will absolutely get an sti in february. the calculation was based off your sti target but not included in the severance payment. sti will show up in your deposit on the normal day everyone else gets one.

@106 Go back and read my post again. Yes, your STI target is included in the calculation of your severance, because it is considered part of your overall compensation. This is nothing new. I don't care what they put on that sheet, you WILL get your 2025 STI in February. It sounds like they redid the way the sheets look since they moved to a new severance system. It's possible it's shown that way because they have to account for the way that STI is handled if your off-payroll date is prior to December. In that case, your STI is paid at the same time as severance. The document reflects $0 because you are not being paid with your severance. Nothing like confusing people even more. If you don't believe me, ask HR Answers or the severance team.

@qq Mine absolutely was. My Severance calculation worksheet clearly shows my base pay, PLUS my target STI, (which was paid at 100%) added together equals my total compensation which was the number that was divided by 52 to determine the weekly amt. to determine my severance payment. Maybe we are different salary bands and have different STI.

@qq I don't think they are going to pay us STI twice. Our severance payment already included STI in the calculation and both the calculation worksheet and the Severance Agreement state "if I am eligible, I will receive STI at the normal time..., however, both documents also reflect "0", next to 2025 STI which to me means that I am not eligible and therefore, I should not expect to receive another STI payment in February. It would be nice, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

@fv Your STI was NOT paid with your severance. However, your STI "target" is included along with your salary in the calculation of your severance amount. That might be your confusion. If you are STI eligible, you will still get your 2025 STI at the end of February. You can thank me later.

Vacation payout was on 1/2/26 which was 2 weeks after my last paycheck on 12/19, and as long as you sign the severance agreement as soon as it becomes available, payment is 4 weeks after signature (which was 3 weeks after off payroll date for me - signed on 12/5, paid on 1/9). The RSUs are paid out in different payments, looks like the first being on 1/21 with $ deposited directly into Fidelity Acct. I'm not sure what others are talking about when they say "STI" paid at regular time because our STI or regular bonus we get in February was already paid as part of the severance and we aren't getting STI in February.

No Severance yet, but I signed late. Good luck it's definitely a strange time and adjustment. I had 30 years.
