What if everybody just ignores the 5-day RTO mandate? What exactly can they do if nobody shows up at the office? Fire us all? I'd like to see them try. I know we sadly can't get the majority to agree to this, but I truly believe this would be the best course of action in this situation.

I have heard that refusal is considered voluntary resignation.
That’s going to happen whether it’s organized or not. Seeing it everywhere…. People for whom this is a problem simply won’t do it. It will take months if not a year or more to establish fairness and accountability standards. Hypo: I’m a leader or two people in same role. One comes in every day from 9 to 5, the other doesn’t. How long before the 9-5’er gets mad at me, the other teammate, or both, and files a complaint? How long before I start looking at calendars and asking “where ya been?” of the other one and then THEY file a complaint for harassment or targeting? A lot of standards need to be put in place before this even remotely looks fair (see what I did there?).
I don’t see mass resignations over this (where you gonna go?) but I do see accelerated retirements and system abuse of PTO. Sad really, that so much work-related brain power will now be diverted to not going in. Swing and a big miss, Bill.
Office is for working and collaborative efforts. Home is for relaxing and playing with toddlers that should be in daycare and puppies in between calls and meetings.
Is it worth it though? Really, I know it su-ks and all, but it definitely won't get any better if we retaliate.
For all we know this is their plan to find who exactly they can lay off.
Something they for sure don't have a plan for is the number of people that are ready to straight up leave unless the RTO5 gets reversed.
