Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What have they accomplished in FIVE YEARS?

Announcement from 2018:
“Much like Google X, the new Ford X team will be responsible for making sure the automaker isn't falling behind in transportation. It'll have responsibility things like the Ford X Accelerator, which will seek out and invest in possible transit options of which cars are just one single part.

It'll be led by Sunny Madra, who until now has been CEO of Autonomic. Ford is confirming today that it has bought the company, which developed what it calls a "Transportation Mobility Cloud" to link everything from connected vehicles and mass transportation options to smart cities, pedestrians, and different service providers in the mobility space. That, for example, could prove instrumental when adding ride-hailing driverless cars to existing transit options.”

And wait, there’s more:

“Ford's second acquisition of the day, meanwhile, is TransLoc. It's been working on demand-response technology, currently for city-owned "microtransit" like shuttle services and university safe-ride programs. For Ford, it means an existing portfolio of relationships with cities, not to mention an expertise in things like dynamic routing.

The rest of Ford's Smart Mobility company will be reorganized. A new Mobility Business Group will take the lead on commercial projects like Chariot and FordPass, as well as act as the next stage for projects successfully incubated by Ford X. It'll also be the home of Ford's autonomous vehicle businesses, which the company has said it expects to have up and running commercial ride-sharing within the next few years.”

Ford X / Ford Next has made a lot of promises, but has delivered NOTHING of value. The $10 BILLION spent on these non producers would have been better spent on quality engineering.

WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?

They had slick models to show the "vision" that they can't achieve. Ford is full of useless elitist, pampered people with grand illusions that are good at PowerPoint (maybe). Start over.

List Model e achievements since the group was formed.
Where is the subscription menu?
Why were all EVs produced recalled?
Why are sales volumes so low? We used to cancel vehicles that sold so few.

TIck tock Jimmy
Tick tock Jimmy
When’s the next Ford family meeting?
You might not get the same glowing reviews you are used to
The young Ford scions are worried about their dividends and you are in the way.
How’s the auction values on Lightning working out for you and the team? Hmm maybe not as much of a home run as your paid-for Motor Trend accolade.
You are not the smartest guy in the room and you don’t see around corners.
The Korean makers are kicking your a-s.
When will your next fabrication happen.
You’ve fooled a lot of people but not anyone who (really)knows the business .

There's a trend here folks. Look at Sunny's work history - started all these ' companies ' but never really accomplished anything, lots of fluff and resume building so he can land a cushy position at Ford with a big salary and without accountability. Look at the rest of them, a loser from HP, Moser, talks and talks and talks yet nothing accomplished other than attempting to build his silo hiring outsiders. Louis-Victor from Renault who claims he created all these great mobility biz, yet can't get anything happening at FMC. Good thing is they will be separated just like Raj Rao, Scott Griffith, Laura Merling and other so called leaders. And hopefully it will happen immediately. Hey Jimmy, wake up, these clowns are making you look really bad.

It is so low profile, that as a 20 plus year employee (until August, of course) I did not know they existed, much less what they we’re supposed to do.

And that ladies and gentlemen is the problem - I’d they aren’t really integrated into the company, how in the he-l are they supposed to help the bottom line? By magic??

January 25, 3018: “Ford X moonshot incubator formed to shake-up mobility”

What “moonshots” have they done, and how did they “shake-up mobility” in the past five years?

Ford X has created the illusion of Ford leadership taking charge. It has little value for the company, it merely props up the current leadership team.
