Thread regarding PNC layoffs

Jan 16 Bill admits PNC is NOT failing during earnings call

2025 net income $7 billion
$16.59 diluted EPS
2024 Q4 net income $2 billion and $4.88 diluted EPS

By virtually all measures 2025 was a successful year. Strong execution across all business lines resulted in record revenue.

Don't be fooled by Bill's remarks that we are lacking in performance. His RTO announcement is nothing more than a fear mongering power trip. We have proven quarter after quarter, year after year, that remote work - WORKS! Its 2026 for f**ks sake. Maybe if we follow Bill's logic we should eliminate PNC Online Banking (something we delivered during the pandemic) because "we work best together in person" (Bill's words). So eliminate Online Banking and have everyone use a physical branch. Oh you live an hour away from a branch? Sorry you must use your nearest branch.

@a9 That is a valid point and I wouldn't put it past those sleaze-ba--s. Everyone gets a kickback in some way or another. The 4 years I was in Pittsburgh office I went out for lunch about 6 times total. That $19 salad is gonna rot before I even think about spending my under-compensated PNC paycheck on eating out ever again. Bill and the execs have never suffered in this economy. They've been fed with a golden spoon for decades. Its time to revolt.

@OP In my opinion, if you have to admit that you're NOT failing, you're hiding something. I guess only time will tell.

RTO is a soft layoff so they don’t have to pay out severance to as many people when the big one comes.

And if coming in five days a week makes Bill think that I’m gonna be spending my hard earned money to eat in a restaurant for $30-$40 every day to generate business in the city, he is bananas. I can’t afford to do that. Me being in the city is not going to generate a nickel for them. I won’t be spending a dime downtown. I will be forced to have to park somewhere or take a bus which is gonna cost me enough money. I can’t afford to go out and eat. And there is no place to shop so I don’t have to worry about that. All my shopping is done on Amazon.

It’s the same thing for me. We are scattered all over the place with some being in India!! so I have to come into the office for a teams meeting when these people are in India? Are the people in India working in an office or are they working from home?

So I want to ask a question, but I feel so d-mb. Since this is anonymous, I decided to post here. Is it possible that the mayor proposed something to Bill about forcing people to come in five days a week to try to generate revenue in the city and in turn PNC would receive some type of benefit? I’m not suggesting anything illegal, so don’t misunderstand me. I just want to know if the bank could benefit by generating revenue in the city in some way. We all know there’s something more to this five days a week in the office. More than half of my department is scattered throughout different cities so do you mean to tell me I have to come in to be on a teams call? That doesn’t even make sense to me.
