My apologies if this already been posted....
How does Optum decide who gets laid off? I've heard most people say it's random but I've also gotten the idea that it's based on your QA.

When I had reports last year I got an IM from my VP to give a name by the close of business. No guidelines, just give a name.
The answer is "it depends". Sometimes a team is asked to make a certain percentage of their employees a 2 rating and then those are the ones to go. Sometimes someone really high up just looks at numbers on a page and picks people based on variables they will admit to like pay, number of reports, seniority and some they won't admit like age regardless of performance. And sometimes they actually come to the leaders and say cut this much budget and let them pick which can be based on performance and current work importance, but also personalities. And then sometimes, they just make an entire cut like closing a whole office or eliminating a whole team.
Can you define QA?
There is no rhyme or reason. Best model I am seeing is if your department isn’t making money at certain percentage then it’s on the chopping block.
Those not aligned to profit cost center. Every leader is responsible for their P&L. If you can’t generate the revenue, you must cut to operating level. If you can’t do that than someone else will. We built up dog eat dog world.
