Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

So what groups do we think will be hit the hardest?

We all know layoff season is upon us... again.. What are everyone's guesses?

To start with, I'm betting a LOT of the Maverick folk's, NC included, PM's, Engineers, Sr. Engineers, and managers who were heavily involved will get cut since the OG deadline was pushed back a quarter. JC was NOT happy about this, "to be clear."

  • Full remote employees - I feel like at some point Dell HAS to start cutting the full remote's considering they want 100% of the company to be local to an office now.. They are hoping many will quit as remote's are not eligible for promotions or movement but, depending on your IC level... that may not be an issue for a lot of them. Not that dell has been promoting anyways lol.

  • Then, ISG/CSG...

  • IT - tech support, devs, etc..

  • Sales - likely more ISR's and AEs or TSR's. Or they combine a TSR into a one shop stop who does all of those roles lol..

  • I'm betting a lot of middle management will be cut this round, which would be directors because the majority of managers and sr. managers were demoted last year...

  • Then the over 50 crowd, those who've been there for 15+ years, and those who make way too much money for their grade level.

  • Then the rest will be mostly randoms

@OP ISRs and TSRs could easily be cut and consolidated, even moreso if the new tooling is good. These folks provide little actual value other than being process monkeys. They’re all pretty much non-technical with no IT background, but are cheap labor.

It's already started in ISG. Several were let go this week and several other underperfomers were moved to more difficult roles. My guess is the underperfomers that got moved are destined for PIPs then termination.

CSG. No value at all.

Meanwhile, two Indians in data science type roles just got promoted- one to an I-10, and one to Distinguished Scientist. All at an off- cycle time, and when no one is getting promoted. Such BS!
