Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Is colocation back?

Wealth and brokerage have been struggling with their strategy for better part of last 2 years.

Every couple months there's an org update email followed by period of radio silence and generic "We will get through this together" bs during AAM

Recent colocation posts have reignited the debate on how the new HR wants to proceed.

My takeaway is, if you're a executive CIO reading this post, what pleasure do you get in associates going through stress, anxiety throughout the year???

Why can't you let someone be who just wants to keep their head down and work?????

Anyone notice on LinkedIn that there are a bunch of retirement posts from long timers (28-30 years)?!?? Did they just offer all those people a retirement package!?!? Just counted 8 people who are hashtag honored and humbled to have worked here.

They don’t realize it. They should just do layoffs like regular companies do and stop the colocation nonsense. Better to know that you won’t have a job rather than show loyalty by moving and then get laid off or asked to move again in 6 months.

The management is filled with grade A sadistic individuals who take pleasure at the expense of someone else's pain.

Do you really think they worry about associates??

Then let me tell you that my manager is someone who will expect you to come to office by taking an Uber if your car broke down. And will bash you if you were not working from a garage while you wait for your car to be fixed.

They don't have any clue on what planning means, let alone have any empathy.

Totally agree. It’s incredibly hard to do meaningful work when you are constantly worried about reorgs or losing your job. After the memo last year about agile roles going away, I haven’t seen many SLs/GSLs, CLs, or SMs truly focused on the work—most seem to be actively looking for their next role. I hope mgmt. realizes how detrimental this style of management is for employees and company .
