Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Long Beach Facility

DF is making press releases about 20x workers at the secretive Long Beach. I've heard of 10x but 20x, oh my.

Wrong on all levels. The west coast arm of the company is growing. That is why key corporate executive leadership is located there.

@md anything is possible. Ford has been ki-ling program after program.

The way things are trending, CE1 is likely to be canceled, and Long Beach will end up as just another empty building. $50B loss and don’t forget Palo Alto. ICE, Hybrids and EREVs is the flavour of the day.

@ek they are hiring in droves. Many are being relocated from elsewhere and high percentage of TN and H1-B ppl. Many came from Rivian, Tesla and a few defunct local EV companies. If you are current or former Apple, you will get fast tracked since DF prefers Apple Cobblers.

Doug, we know you had a tough day with Big D taking center stage today, but remember, tomorrow is a brand new day! Slip on your favorite pink bunny slippers, grab a $6 latte from the cafe, find a cozy spot, and get ready to hang out with your Model e friends tomorrow morning!

@h8 If you hope to appear intelligent, learn the difference between “you’re” and “your.”
You obviously work in Model e.

Truth is, DF is the exact opposite of you're uninformed claim. He has brought high tech to Ford and direction for the future with alternative mobility streams.

People keep falsely saying on this forum that he sunk billions into EV's. That is not true. Ford still builds and plan to build EV's. Fact. How can you say the funding was lost? Also don't forget he made the tough but correct call to stop work on FNV4 when it was clear that it would not deliver on its objectives. That decision alone saved the company millions.

@bf if you are as smart as you claim.. Then answer this question.. since you are the all knowing.. Why did FORD loss over $19bn (capital "B") with EVs???? Again you claim to be the savior..
Just remember you group has not earned a dime for the company.. only leached off of it like Professional job hopper Doug Fields.. You have nothing to hang your hat on..So I would stp with the post.. because you look like an ID--T

DF doesn't care about parking. He wants his automotive workers to take public transportation. SMH

Worst executive hire Ford has ever made. And that's saying a lot!!

50-100 people direct?

I hear about trying to hire a lot of contract workers in the bay area and Long Beach. The pay is terrible, especially for a high col area. There is no way anybody even 1x is taking those deals. It's ironic because I also hear about them turning down good auto engineers who are already in the area.

@bh no $6 chickens and those waterless urinals in the gents are funky. Parking is typical Ford land fumble. I heard they plan to hire 50-100 ppl in Long Beach over the next year where they all will park is a mystery.

This will be well spent funding, any way you look at it. Model e, software, and digital design/technologies are setting the stage for Ford's mobility future. Investment in legacy areas is money wasted. Fact.

Some ppl were PIP’d and let go, several have left for greener pastures or abruptly quit. They are hiring many and there is little to no parking available. If you arrive past 9am you have to park in the overflow and take a shuttle.

DF feels comfortable in California, this is the only place where he stays as he never bothered with other locations. This is why every single program failed in the past. Without knowing anything about the automotive industry everything is doomed. Phone != vehicle

Until you realize that in automotive you actually need 20 people instead of 1 person doing the work of 20.
