Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Mass layoffs today

A ton of folks were fired today……all about the quota. We lost some really good people. As usual, the compliant cheap useless folks survive.

@d9 dallas is already being pushed. Lake mary and pitts are no longer being looked at as growth locations. Not sure how they ever were cause pitts always got blasted during mass layoffs. My mgr is conveniently from GS and hes suddenly pushing texas to be filled

@f9 normally they dont give you bonuses or merit of they have you the list to terminate. They plan that in advance

Are people getting this year’s bonus if you are part of the January wave ? Super concerned that on Monday, my own game is up.

Whoever is saying that people are being fired for coffee badging, is completely off. In my team in tech risk a senior guy barely turns up and even when he does turn up, he is gone in the first three hours. I don’t think he has been reprimanded and certainly not been fired . If they need to hold on to you, they will and you can get away by doing anything.

@d3 in that case, GS has presence in Dallas and Salt Lake City and reqs will start increasing there.

Thats because Lake Mary and PA are no longer considered growth locations. Our like GS folks coming in are putting Texas on the map conveniently

@ay Can you tell the departments that had the most impacts?

@b1 I just wonder how many of those folks were encouraged to relocate to Lake Mary just to be let go. Orlando is not a banking center so they will most likely have to relocate again to find a new job. Bottom line is not to relocate for BNY since there is no loyalty at all (and Lake Mary is a d-mb location for a growth center)!

We may not be able to win new business and do innovative things for our clients, but, we sure can track RTO attendance and make up bad review stories better than anyone!

And Lake Mary is considered a strategic growth center! Just goes to show everyone that Robbie has no strategy except cannibalism. He is the Ed Gein of custody banking.

Please please please know that this is not happening elsewhere. After 10 years in the manchester office I recently left for another major bank. We work 2 days in office , get paid more money, have a great work life balance and a company that’s focused on people and it’s customers and not just the bottom line all the time and is also not obsessed with AI. It’s not until you leave that you realise how bad BNY has become. Good staff let go and the usual linked in warriors that survive.
