Thread regarding United Stationers Inc. - Essendant layoffs

How's it going in 2026?

Any current employee's here? How's the new plan going? What's the climate like in the office? Things seem very quiet. I see a few recent comments in the September post and it doesn't seem good.

Total sinking ship. Management lies in Town Hall meetings. One would have to be delusional to think they are safe.

I was laid off in November. The marketing director had to cut 3 positions and leadership then told her to cut more. She said she could not effectively run a marketing team with any less people and offered herself. They took her offer and put the creative director in charge of marketing.

This week, they laid off him and all but 3 employees in marketing. All that's left is the email person and 2 marketing managers. Who needs a marketing team, right?

We no longer have the 9 paid company holidays listed as a benefit. We are required to work those days.

I saw that VP of HR Dave McCann has announced on LinkedIn that he is moving on and looking for a new position. There has been maybe 2-3 rounds of layoffs since the big September one. I personally think Essendant is done and the only team left to fire was HR before the company sells off its remaining assets. Essendant had already sold off several DCs to SP Richards
