@dh I would NOT make any decisions based off this post. As someone in a position to know this as a fact, this is not standard and only done in unique circumstances. Also, I’m not aware of any layoffs effective as of that date any where in this organization. So the math isn’t mathing.

Nope, I just left this he-l-hole. When I was telling my managers that I was leaving, they tried to guilt me into staying, they were using the bonus. HR said the same. My last day was earlier this week. They will not give me the bonus. Either way, I'm good since I have a sign on bonus and the new job is a 50% raise (USAA underpaid me so badly), so not worried.

The Policy lists two seperate conditions:

  1. You were severed. Therefore you have to be employed through the bonus performance period 1/1/20xx through 12/31/20xx. So Good on HR for paying the October person's bonus.

  2. If you are not severed, you have to be actively employed when the bonus is paid. Which is 2/26/2026 this year. So that reads if your inending to resign, do so after you get your check.

Friend of mine who was part of the October 2025 layoffs and last day was 1/2/2026, said they received an email from HR claiming they’ll be getting the bonus.

Policy says you have to be actively employed when bonus is paid (Feb 2026) but rumor says it also depends on your manager (if they like you or not). To be safe, don't count on it. If you have another job offer maybe they are willing to give you a sign on bonus.
