Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The way some people were soooo loud about surviving layoffs… Can’t wait for them to meet their new workload tomorrow. Enjoy 😌

Be happy. There's no grudge against that. We all want stable income and medical benefits and the like. We're monitoring a layoff-related board for goodness sake. Many want the same things. BUT, don't specifically mouth off, stating that you are still employed because you took specific actions and outperformed the people who are now unemployed. Don't rejoice that all the people laid off were "DEI hires" and needed to go. On a case by case basis, I can even accept that some of it happened, but I've also seen a lot of cases where the top performers on a team were the ones asked to leave; where quality workers fresh off losing their livelihoods had to console those who still have jobs, because those staying behind were worried about how they would continue to function on their own. There's a line. Some crossed it by being living examples of Dunning-Kruger effect. A little humility and respect for others goes a long way.

@b1 most of the people left have been riding the short bus their entire lives or ate paint chips as a child

"Who's" before the spell-check and grammar police jump on autocorrect to distract from the whole point.

No. The pettiness was the way some people speak and act like surviving the layoffs was because they are so good or better than those RIFd. I know for a fact that many of the best personnel that were holding things together with duct tape, elbow grease, and pure know-how were let go, while some folks coasting and playing politics and incapable of getting things done stayed comfortably in place. So... yeah. We'll see what we'll see. It's not petty to point out one's opinion that some people are in for a rude awakening. We didn't wish it into being. We were just along for the ride until we were kicked off the bus, foolishly, by people who should know the difference between an effective worker and someone whose not. SHOULD being the operative word. Good luck to all.

@OP 40 hours, is 40 hours. No different then allll the other layoffs. Plus, it seems from this site, more time to myself vs hand holding
