Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

What an absolute failure the name Truist has been

Years later and this abomination of a name is still struggling to gain traction. News flash, it never will. We’re never going to make progress with this name. It drags us down like an anchor and reflects poorly on both shareholders and teammates. In all these years, I haven’t met a single person outside the bank who doesn’t mock it. Even today, years later, the legacy names still have greater brand recognition and consumer trust - and they don't even exist anymore. Leadership needs to grow a pair and change back to one of the legacy names, even if it is to have a corporate structure like Meta/Facebook. I am a legacy teammate, and I don't care which one. Just pick one. They are both good names.

Yes, it’s a d-mb name. But executive management and in particular Billy Boy is even d-mber. I still can’t believe he’s still here after 5 yrs of poor performance relative to peer banks.

@rc Left wing? 45 is why Truist raised minimum pay and directly said that at the time. 47 is helping all banks against the cfpb. The Truist board is stacked with current and former capitalist executives. Bees being placed on the roof and charitable actions by Truist are purely performative.

The name is stupid, for sure. But the biggest issues are that Truist presented itself as a left wing organization out of the gate, they decided to treat each market as if it was Dallas or Charlotte, and they have a CEO that absolutely nobody respects.

Seriously…have you ever sat through one of his speeches? “Before I speak to you, I’m going to look each one of you in the eye….(three minute pause)….ok….”

Seriously….what an id--t.

Public Corporate Investment Bank clients leaving gets the attention of Truist management. Who has left since the merger? I imagine a lot.

While I have always questioned the name, its issue is a symptom of a far bigger systemic issue that permeates the firm. It was created by consultants. Every major decision on operating modes and how we constantly reinvent ourselves are being made by consultants. Our leaders can’t think for themselves and pay outsiders to think for them. The result…. Our firm has no identity except chaos and many many good employees have been rif’d while we spin our wheels and get no where real fast. Then we will hire more consultants to shake it up again.

@b8 I know you are low level with that response. Keep up the glaze, useless id--t.

Teammates stuck in the past that cannot accommodate change are the problem. Not the name. SunTrust or BB&T could be the one ordering you to RTO and you would still soil your diaper.

Advancement and pay require work. There are no handouts.

I have not spoken to a single customer who is happier now than they were with their heritage bank. This bank has become a laughing stock in the industry, and that reputation is well-deserved. Poor leadership and chronic mismanagement have created a stigma that now follows everyone who works here. Recruiters are already avoiding résumés with this bank’s name on them, and that is deeply concerning. I believe staying here is actively harming my career, and I regret not leaving years ago.

Its stupid name is the least of this bank's problems.

@OP It doesn't help that during my time here, legacy as well, I have interacted with more dishonest and unethical managers/leaders than anywhere I have ever worked. I thought the name Truist was an inside joke for them because they are fully aware of their sc-mmy practices. This is all internal as well, I don't interact with the customers and am totally back office. I call them Limbo Champions, they compete to see who can go the lowest.

None of this produces results either. It not like its a necessary part of the business or of managing people. It is an endless cycle where LOB's lose money or people due to this behavior and instead of excising the cancer or prosecuting the psychopaths, it leads to layoffs, budget reductions, and good people leaving. The cancer remains and cycle repeats. This has been going on since '97.

I have witnessed customers be lied to and stolen from, Shareholders lied to and investments wasted, Teammates be setup for faults or crimes they are innocent and unware of.

As my time here is coming to an end, my conclusion is that this isn't a financial institute.
It is a warehouse of good ole boys and nepo hires, failing up and losing other people's money, consistently. They may do some town halls with catch phrases, do some DEI public facing initiatives which I think area good thing, however don't be fooled. It is a cover to distract or bury what is mentioned above.

Truist, If the customers and stakeholders only knew. You can't write this stuff. This level of gaslighting is an achievement.
