Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Accountability- PepsiCo l

There is a lot of internal chatter regarding the decision to have the CSTO lead LATAM Foods while maintaining the S&T lead. With a direct report structure of nearly 30 people already, many are asking how this serves the business rather than just consolidating power.

The Financial Questions

The S&T era under Athina’s direct leadership—along with Vikram and G-yatri—has seen a staggering level of spend.

• ROI Gap: Many within the org feel the billions spent on "transformation" haven't materialized into frontline efficiency.

• There is significant frustration over the lack of business justification for the heavy reliance on specific global tech and consulting partners.

The Offshore Oversight Issue

The "India and Mexico Hub" model - While local teams face budget freezes, we see:

• Lavish travel and spending from global hubs.

• A perceived lack of productivity, with local leads often picking up the slack for offshore teams working limited hours.

Culture & Leadership

Is the "PepsiCo Way" being applied at the top? The leadership style and treatment of partners during this spend-heavy era have been widely criticized internally. Instead of an audit into the financial results of S&T, we see a promotion to a CEO seat. How does this align with our goals of being a lean, accountable organization?

@1a1 sounds like another fine example of expensive S&T vanity project that has only served the interests of a very few individuals, and hardly benefited the company! Nothing new, plenty of those examples could be listed!

@1a1 youre indicating that peacock is proprietary to PEP, which is not accurate

@13v there is a pattern of inflated egos, grandiose titles, and very little integrity, with minimal delivery of tangible business value for PepsiCo. This is reflected in S&T design system named Peacock! - Yes, you have read it correct! - it symbolically mirrors broader cultural issues within S&T. These dynamics contribute directly to our current challenges, including underperformance in the market and continued erosion of market share.

@m1 I still cannot get over that someone like G-yatri N, or A-damayaAshk have been allowed to waste company resources for so long! Another fine example of whats wrong with S&T and reasons why we Pepsico is in so much troubles. More layoffs coming in 2026!

She's obviously getting ready for a play at the top job, Latam leadership gives her the business experience that she lacks. God help PepsiCo if she succeeds though. I won't be here, but I feel for the rest of you.

V-ikram, G-yatri and A-damayaAshk are gone, yet the problems remain... simply because they were only the symptoms not the root cause of problems. Their share incompetence and lack of leadership did not come out of nowhere! Someone hired them and empowered them to spend and waste PEP resources!

@dj nepotism and sheer corruption is there for everyone to see. The offshoring is purely to benefit the Indians. They are milking it and there is no end in sight.

What a shame. No matter how hard they try to deliver from one warehouse, there is no local talent. Who wants to try know they could be lined up to exit. When you have no direction no vision and no talent except everything being India centric

More and more it is clear, PepisCo has lost its way and purpose. Leadership is all but dead in the highest levels of the business and between Ramon and Ram, I don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel, our board is useless. These days, making it to the top is all about connections and who you know and we’ve seen nepotism really quadruple with all the off-shoring to Mexico and India. This is not a winning playbook and who is going to dig us out of this leadership mess? In S&T we seem to be focused of paying the lowest rate to hire off-shore but I agree, ROI seems questionable at best. Last year we heard that Transformation under Ashin, led programs that contributed $500MM in savings. Yet, Wall Street has been disagreeing whilst promotions ensue for Athina. Digital transformation at its best with India and Mexico delivering top value, they say.

Let’s face it. Athina knows nothing about food and beverage from a hole in a wall. She’s there to move S&T and whatever can be move to Mexico and India. Nothing more.

It is called grabbing everything while delivering nothing. She was a total F grade leader and to be given ceo one asks WTF is the leadership all about.. clearly there is massive corruption happening at the highest levels.

Frontline efficiency, lol. Let’s be real—no amount of SAP systems or conversions will change the fact that low-cost admin roles are filled by people who do a hundred different tasks, jack-of-all-trades style, and get paid next to nothing. So billions are spent to replace someone like Janice, the admin who smokes four times a day and probably takes four 15-minute breaks instead of two. Pepsi “saves” money like the HR rep who buys a $100K Tesla to save on gas—it’ll pay off in 200 years. And let’s be honest, efficiency isn’t happening in the merch ranks, which is the toughest job in any grocery store. If you really want to save money, deliver to people’s homes.
