@e9 You got a promotion because your wife is a doctor? Whaaaaat?
My wife is a doctor, and I got a promotion because of it. Every year since, I’ve ended up doing less work than the year before. I keep upper management happy, get along with everyone, solve problems when needed, and stay out of the way since they all have egos they can’t set aside. In a typical week, I probably do about two hours of actual work, not counting answering calls. Just agree, keep people happy, and you’ll be fine. Regarding the comment about being thrown out on the street, make a bunch of moves and they’ll get rid of you. I see it every year—threats are eliminated because our leaders make lots of money and don’t want to look bad to RAM.

@OP Don't worry. When AI takes over your job, you'll have no choice but to lazier and unproductive sitting around at home trying to find a job before your partner kicks you out on the street.
Keep playing the game.
I'm right there with you!
I need to learn to care even less in 2026. That's my New Year's resolution.
